The new 2020 Africa Twin

No new model list could start without putting the Africa Twin at its peak, just as its intended to be ridden. The 2020 release sees a more powerful 1100cc engine, soaring free from limitation with peak power and torque increased by 5Kw/5Nm along with the intake-exhaust efficiency which has been carefully optimised with a new Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and throttle body, feeding a redesigned cylinder head - all enhancing the throttle feel for a firm and crisp response.

Along with the engine improvements, the new 2020 Africa Twin has enhanced its stance on the road and dirt, thanks to a new chassis, bodywork and riding position. Encouraging ultimate control, the new chassis features a lighter frame, using an aluminium swingarm based on the CRF450R, while a bolt-on rear subframe match the adjustable long-travel Showa front forks and rear shock. The lowered handlebars aid riders both sitting and standing, while the contoured, slimmer seat width gives way for agility.

Push yourself with help of the technology inside the new Africa Twin. A new Dual LED headlight helps keep your journey illuminated, with a hard-edged signature stare. Dual Daytime Running Lights (DRL) adjust automatically to ambient light, ensuring your safety no matter the conditions. Up front, a 6.5-inch TFT screen with touchscreen controls ensures your riding information is delivered clearly, prominently and is easily accessible at all times. Control your rides response with rider modes, all managed easily through the touchscreen display, or by the onboard controls.

The new 2020 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade

Of course, a brand new Fireblade carries and unprecedented reputation without even a glance after years of successful domination in the market but this one marks the start of something of a challenge, a success story unravelling more by the day. Honda and the HRC engineering team set out to create a brand new inline four-cylinder engine for the new CBR1000RR-R Fireblade.

A compact, short-stroke layout, following directly in the steps of the RC123V with the same bore and stroke plus a range of other internal developments and technologies. Even more refinements across the delivery, enable this new machine to empower a journey as thrilling as a race even within the confines of the city.

After the development work undertaken, the machine to arrive pumps out an incredible 113Nm of torque at 12,500rpm with a stunning peak power of 160Kw at 14,500rpm. The response of the CBR1000RR-R is incredible thanks to an enhanced Throttle By Wire system, delivering instant and accessible power throughout the rev range with minimal delay. The system has been improved with three default riding modes feature options to customise your ride, with editable Power, Engine Brake, Wheelie Control and optimised Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC).

The new Aluminium diamond frame uses the rear of the engine as the upper shock mount, while the swingarm is longer and based on the RC213V-S design. All in all, these changes lead to an increased balance, weight distribution and better steering geometry, all compensating for the increased engine output which enables for better front and rear grip along with the riders perception and feel for both.

It's clear to see, Honda really were serious about hitting the road running after a development cycle that rebuilt the fundamental parts of what pushes the name Fireblade and it's motivations to be the class-leading Supersport, but what do you think? Are their changes heading in the right direction?
