We’re getting into the biking season now (and as there is never a better time to get a little bit of extra training), we thought we’d share information about Bike Safe. Police rider led workshops promoting safer motorcycle riding which can (with further assessment) help to lower your insurance premium.
The Bike Safe training website describes the initiative as:
The aims of BikeSafe are to encourage those attending to then go onto take advantage of accredited post-test training and to encourage positive rider behaviour and attitudes.
With our Havering based dealerships being so close to Central London a great majority of our customers mainly ride for commuting or as delivery riders. London roads and main arterials can be very congested during rush hour, which unfortunately means riders can be more vulnerable.
Bike Safe days are open to riders of all skills and licencing levels. So, it doesn’t matter if you’re hold a CBT riding a 125cc scooter or 50cc moped or if you’ve got an A2 licence riding a 500cc commuter bike or a fully blown category A motorcycle licence and you’re riding a 1000cc sports bike – safer riding tips are something all of us can use day-to-day!
The workshops offer guidance on hazard assessment and work closely with many partners, including the Motorcycle Industry Association, the Department for Transport and various voluntary road safety organisations. At the end of the workshop riders are assessed on the road and given advice and pointers on how they can improve their riding. Information is also given for post-test training courses that can be recognised by motorcycle insurance companies as a way of reducing your premium.
